01 | Passive or Non-Lucrative Residence Program

Spain provides a Non-Lucrative Residence Visa aimed at retirees and individuals who can support themselves financially without working in the country. This visa allows individuals to reside in Spain for up to 12 months, ensuring they have adequate financial resources for their duration of stay. Ideal for those looking to enjoy Spain’s vibrant culture and lifestyle, this visa also facilitates easier travel throughout the Schengen Area, offering access to Europe’s diverse cultural, educational, and business opportunities.

To be eligible under the Non-Lucrative Residence Visa for Spain, applicants must meet several key requirements:

Proof of Sufficient Financial Means: Demonstrate adequate financial resources to support yourself and any dependents during your stay in Spain without the need for employment in the country. The minimum financial requirement is set at 400% of the Public Income Index (IPREM) annually for the main applicant, which is equivalent to a revenue of €28,000 per year, and an additional 100% of the IPREM for each dependent, equivalent to €7,000.

Private Health Insurance: Applicants must have comprehensive health insurance coverage from a company authorized to operate in Spain. This insurance must cover all risks normally covered for Spanish nationals in Spain.

Proof of Accommodation: Confirmation of accommodation for the entire length of your stay in Spain, which can be shown through property deeds or a rental agreement.

Below is a comprehensive checklist of documents needed for the Non-Lucrative Visa application in Spain. Some documents may vary based on the applicant’s nationality and country of residence.

It is important to note that any documents issued in a foreign language must be officially translated into Spanish by a certified translator. Additionally, certain personal documents will have to be legalized with the Apostille of The Hague.

Our team is available to assist you in gathering and preparing the required documents tailored to your specific circumstances, and ensuring they are legalized appropriately.

  • Passport: Include copies of all pages of your current and previous passports, showing travel stamps and visas.
  • National Passport or Identification Card.

  • Health Insurance: Coverage must be valid in Spain, covering all health risks for a minimum of 12 months.

Permanent Residency: After 5 years of legal residence, you can apply for permanent residency, which grants a 10-year residence permit.

02 | Spanish Golden Visa

Spain provides an attractive option for obtaining residency through its real estate investment visa program, as outlined by Spanish law. Recognizing the popularity of this initiative, Inimex has developed a comprehensive guide to help you navigate the process of becoming a Spanish resident by investing in property.

To fulfill the criteria of Spain’s “Golden Visa” program, as mandated by Spanish immigration laws, you need to meet the following primary requirements:

  • Real Estate Investment (Option 1): Invest at least €500,000 in Spanish real estate and maintain this investment for a minimum of 5 years.
  • Financial Means: Demonstrate sufficient financial resources to cover living expenses in Spain for the initial year of the residence permit. For the main applicant, this means having at least 400% (€28,000 per year) of the IPREM, and an additional 100% (€7,000 per year) of the IPREM for each family member.
  • Bank Account: Open a bank account in Spain and transfer the necessary funds to show you can support yourself and your family during your stay.
  • Health Insurance: Possess comprehensive medical insurance in Spain that covers all health risks.

Additional investment options in Spain include:

  • Public Debt Investment (Option 2): Invest at least €2 million in Spanish public debt.
  • Investment in Shares or Investment Funds (Option 3): Invest €1 million in shares of investment funds.
  • Venture Capital Funds (Option 4): Invest a minimum of €1 million in closed-end type or venture capital funds established in Spain.

For the Golden Visa in Spain, which is granted to non-EU citizens who make significant investments, such as in real estate, here’s a typical list of required documents:

  • Passport.
  • Birth Certificate.
  • Marriage and or Divorce Certificate, if applicable.
  • Investment Confirmation:
    – Real Estate: Deeds of the property purchase or a certificate of the domain and charges from the Property Registry corresponding to the investment (dated within 90 days of the application).
    – Financial Investments: Documentation proving the investment in public debt, shares, or investment funds.
Financial Means: Bank statements or other documents confirming sufficient financial means to support yourself and any dependents during your stay in Spain.
  • Criminal Record Certificate.
  • Health Insurance.
  • Medical Certificate.
  • NIE (Foreigner Identity Number).

For documents issued outside of Spain to be accepted by Spanish authorities, they must be legally valid within Spain. This requires that personal documents be translated into Spanish by a certified translator. Additionally, depending on the country of issuance, these documents must either be legalized or apostilled to ensure their authenticity and legal standing in Spain.
